State-Specific Resources

Some states may not include the incarceration event in their educational standards, but relevant, state-specific materials are available online. Students and teachers can use these to learn more about the impact Executive Order 9066 made on their home state, and how the conversation continues today. These resources often shed light on the unimaginable challenges faced in the camps, but many states, such as Minnesota, Missouri, and Nebraska have uplifting stories to tell, too. Especially noteworthy resources are highlighted in red.
Note that states with few Japanese Americans during the 1940s may have fewer state-specific resources related to the internment. Browse non-state-specific resources here.
